Fragrance Is the Most Common Ingredient You're Not Thinking About
Pick up almost any body product — a moisturiser, a body oil, a shimmer lotion — and somewhere in the ingredient list you'll find the word "fragrance" or "parfum."
It's everywhere. And most people don't question it because fragrance is what makes a product feel like a product. It creates an experience. It signals quality. It makes you want to pick the bottle up off the shelf.
That's exactly why it's in everything — and exactly why we left it out.
What Fragrance Actually Does
Fragrance in skincare and body products is a catch-all term. Under a single ingredient listing, brands can include hundreds of individual compounds — because fragrance formulations are considered trade secrets and don't require full disclosure.
Some of those compounds are harmless. Some are among the most common contact allergens in beauty products. Some cause micro-inflammation over time — subtle enough that you might not connect it to the product, significant enough that it affects how your skin holds and absorbs everything else you put on it.
For a product designed to give your skin a glow, starting with an irritant isn't a great strategy.
Why It's Still in Most Products
Because it sells. Fragrance creates an emotional response at the point of purchase. A product that smells beautiful feels like it works, even before you've tried it.
And because it masks. Ingredient formulations aren't always pleasant in their unscented state. Fragrance is often added to cover the base smell of actives, preservatives, and emulsifiers.
Both of these are business decisions, not formulation decisions.
What We Chose Instead
The Celebrity Body Shine Fluid contains no fragrance. No parfum. No essential oils used as fragrance agents.
What it does contain: real ingredient doses at levels that actually do something, a hydrating base that works with your skin's natural barrier, and a finish developed by Mehak Oberoi to look right on Indian skin under any light.
Nothing unnecessary. That's not a tagline. It's a formulation brief.
The Wider Principle
Every Unblur Beauty product is built around ingredient integrity. We don't add ingredients because they look good on the packaging or because they're in vogue. We add them because they serve a function — and at a dose that actually delivers that function.
Indian beauty consumers are increasingly ingredient-literate. You're reading labels. You're asking questions. We think that's exactly right, and we formulate accordingly.
What This Means for Your Skin
A fragrance-free formula means less interference between the product and your skin. Better absorption. Less likelihood of irritation, redness, or uneven application caused by micro-inflammation.
And for a body glow product — where the entire point is how your skin looks — that matters more than how the product smells in the bottle.
